Getting your player ready...
Bobby Jones Golf president Jesse Ortiz, chief designer of that company’s Pelz line of wedges, insists that all golfers should purchase wedges in 2010 — the final year of production with larger, sharper grooves, as mandated by the USGA. The new groove regulations allow for recreational players to use their present clubs at least until 2024, so Ortiz points out that it’s best to purchase wedges that will last. He believes the Pelz line, which uses a special, wear-resistant German metal alloy for the face, will last longer than the competitive models. Pelz wedges retail for $120 apiece and are available at or by calling 800-366-1989.
