Old Navy’s flag T-shirts have become synonymous with the Fourth of July, and this year the retailer has even more reasons to tout its stars- and-stripes designs. All Old Navy stores through Sunday are hosting a drive to collect personal-care products and clothing for men and women serving in the military in Iraq and Afghanistan. The items they’re requesting are underwear, T-shirts, socks, sunglasses, lip balm, foot powder and flip- flops. Stores will have an under-$10 section where people can purchase items to donate if they don’t already have them. Those making donations get a 10 percent discount on purchases. Old Navy is also offering discounts to servicemen and women shopping in stores through Sunday. And for every flag T-shirt purchased through Monday, the company will send one to troops overseas, up to 500,000 shirts. The promotion is being co-sponsored by Operation: Care and Comfort ().
