ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo.—A hiker who fell on Longs Peak was rescued with help from a team fighting a wildfire in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Park officials say rangers got a cell phone call Thursday saying that a 28-year-old man had fallen 150 feet down the mountain, which is more than 14,000-feet high. A ranger was flown by helicopter to the summit of Longs Peak, hiked down and reached Spencer Davis of Fraser.
A National Park Service team working on a wildfire in the park helped move the man, who was flown to a Denver hospital.
Park spokeswoman Kyle Patterson says the hiker was conscious and appeared to be in stable condition.
The park is about 70 miles northwest of Denver.
