GREELEY, Colo.—State health officials say a 53-year-old Weld County woman has Colorado’s first confirmed case of West Nile virus this year.

Weld County health officials said Friday that the woman reported the onset of West Nile fever on June 22 and is recovering at home.

State health officials say they can’t predict how severe this season will be for the mosquito-borne disease but say there will be virus activity statewide.

Last year there were 103 confirmed cases of West Nile virus in humans in Colorado, with three deaths.
