DENVER—It’s no holiday for Colorado’s candidates for political office. The Fourth of July is prime time for politicians to wave to crowds, toss candy and plea for votes as the state heads into a heated campaign season.
There are holiday parades to join and stickers to hand out as Colorado prepares for primary elections next month. The primaries are Aug. 10, but mail-in ballot start going out in just about two weeks, so it’s sprint time for many candidates.
Even politicians with no competition next month have busy Fourth of July days planned. Democratic Rep. Ed Perlmutter is in Denver to celebrate the start of the National Veterans Wheelchair Games, while Republican Rep. Mike Coffman will be on CNN talking about political trends.
