DENVER—The 30th National Veterans Wheelchair Games begin Sunday in Denver.

The games are the largest annual wheelchair sports competition in the world. There are 17 different sports, from basketball and softball to handcycling.

Rep. Ed Perlmutter of the Denver suburbs will be on hand to celebrate as the games begin with a rugby game Sunday morning in Civic Center Park in Denver.

Last year’s Veterans Wheelchair Games in Spokane, Wash., drew 513 wheelchair athletes. The games are sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
