A 16-year-old from Arkansas was stuck in a crevice on Old Man Mountain east of Estes Park for nearly nine hours Monday.
Crews from Larimer County Search and Rescue, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services, Estes Park Fire Department and Rocky Mountain National Park worked for hours to free the boy, which occurred about 7:45 p.m. when he was lifted 30 feet by rescuers, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department.
He was taken to Estes Park Medical Center “where he will likely spend the night,” the Sheriff’s Department stated.
His name was not released. He was part of a youth group visiting the boulder-laden area from Arkansas, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
In April last year a 21-year-old college student from Boulder was stuck for more than nine hours after she fell into a crevice while hiking in the same area.
