RULISON, Colo.—A western Colorado woman is suing the natural gas company that drilled on her land, saying Williams Co. put in a larger-than-allowed drilling pad and left waste behind.
Marion Wells of Rulison is suing the Tulsa, Okla.-based energy company after she says Williams violated a surface-use agreement to drill on her Garfield County property.
Wells says that a county board set up to settle energy disputes didn’t solve her concerns, and a Williams spokeswoman agreed the board isn’t the best way to settle disputes because it meets only once a month.
Spokeswoman Susan Alvillar didn’t comment on Wells’ lawsuit. The lawsuit seeks to force the company to remove construction debris and pay for flooding damages Wells blames on the drilling.
