The Colorado Kings, a basketball franchise based in Denver, will lead a new Rocky Mountain Division in the American Basketball Association.
The latest incarnation of the ABA has no relation to the defunct league which merged with the NBA in 1976 — other than the fact that the name was licensed.
As part of a massive expansion, a total of 50 teams will compete this season.
Until the formation of the Rocky Mountain Division is completed, the Kings will play a rotating schedule against teams in the Southwest, South Central and California divisions, according to a release sent by the league.
