FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Larimer County commissioners have ordered staff to tell the sheriff’s office about medical marijuana businesses that are operating without a land-use permit in unincorporated parts of the county.
Assistant County Attorney Bill Ressue told commissioners this week the county can shut down the businesses that are not in compliance or the sheriff’s office could investigate and decide what to do. Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden says he needs to review the new state law that went into effect July 1 before deciding what his office should do.
Officials say there are about 10 medical marijuana businesses in unincorporated parts of Larimer County that did not apply for a land-use permit before new state rules went into effect this month.
