COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Colorado Springs police say a man who fired a gun on a city bus, apparently on accident, may face charges if he is identified.

No one was hurt when the weapon discharged Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of the Chapel Hills Mall. Police say the bus driver thought the noise was a firecracker and the man got off the bus.

Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Noblitt says the man could face a weapons charge because it is illegal to fire a gun on a bus even if the man had a concealed weapon permit.

Noblitt says it appears the shooting was an accident because the man made no threats and didn’t point the gun at anyone.
