ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo.—Officials have released the name of a man who was airlifted out of Rocky Mountain National Park after sliding down a snow field and breaking his leg.
Park officials identified the man as 27-year-old Matt Martin of Syracuse, Indiana.
Rangers Wednesday afternoon reached Martin in the Lost Lake area of the park about two hours after receiving a distress signal sent through a GPS emergency messenger system.
Martin was airlifted by helicopter out of the park late Wednesday.
A park ranger and a helicopter crew member were unable to fly out and spent the night at a backcountry cabin.
