MONTROSE, Colo.—An autopsy is planned to see if a male body recovered in a canal in Montrose is that of a radio host who went missing more than two weeks ago.

Forty-eight-year-old Rick Steele was last seen July 1 near South Canal. On Saturday, officials recovered a body from the canal, and Montrose County Coroner Dr. Thomas Canfield says the body has similar characteristics to Steele. A confirmed identification was pending.

The body was spotted Saturday morning by a sheriff’s deputy on patrol. The Montrose Daily Press reports the body was about 12 miles away from where Steele’s vehicle was discovered.

Steele hosted a weekday morning show on KBNG-FM.
