The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a lawsuit Tuesday in federal court charging Denver Hotel Management Co. Inc., the owner of the Brown Palace Hotel & Spa, with sex discrimination against a woman because she is a caregiver to her young children.
According to the suit, Renate Rivelli was denied a promotion to assistant human-resources director because of her gender and a stereotyped assumption of Rivelli’s ability to do the job because she is a single mother with children.
