MONTROSE, Colo.—Montrose authorities are investigating the deaths of an 84-year-old woman and her 61-year-old son-in-law after their bodies were discovered at their home last week.
The Montrose County coroner on Monday ruled the death of Jeanne L. Mennell a homicide and the death of Mark A. Koeman was ruled a suicide. The coroner says Mennell was smothered and Koeman shot himself in the head.
The Montrose County sheriff’s office would not release any more information about their deaths. The bodies of Mennell and Koeman were discovered by a woman Friday morning at Mennell’s Montrose home.
