A 27-year-old Longmont woman charged with child abuse resulting in death in the February bathtub drowning of her 10-month-old nephew pleaded not guilty this morning and set her case for trial.
Andromeda Sosa, who was free on bond when she appeared in Boulder County District Court, was taken into custody because she’s not paying her bond as scheduled.
Sosa was arrested in March after police said she left Jeremiah Sosa in a bathtub while she went to make several calls in another room. When she returned to the bathroom, police said, the infant was under water.
Sosa had been caring for the boy since a few days after his birth because his parents were serving prison sentences, police reported.
While in the house, officers also found evidence of a marijuana grow and a bag of cocaine. The marijuana grow, which included 50 to 70 plants, belonged to another woman in the home, according to an arrest affidavit. The bag of cocaine had Sosa’s name on it, and she also was charged with possession of less than one gram of a schedule II controlled substance.
Her trial is set for Jan. 24.
