A transient who used an aerosol can and a match or lighter to set another transient on fire on University Hill last year was sentenced this morning to six years in prison.

Robert Sparks Bryon, 62, was arrested Sept. 15 on suspicion of first-degree assault in connection with the attack that left Robert Colehour, 44, with second-degree burns on his right ear and neck and less serious burns on his arm and scalp.

Bryon pleaded guilty this morning to second-degree assault and was immediately sentenced to six years in prison followed by three years of parole.

The attack happened before 2 p.m. on Sept. 15 in front of the Colorado Bookstore at the corner of Broadway and College Avenue.
