As more mountain resorts add “fun parks” to their summer repertoires, it makes bringing the kids along on your biking and hiking adventures more feasible. Put Breckenridge on the list, with its easy-to-remember Fun Park (), situated at the base of Peak 8. The options — all prices are per person — include a SuperPutt Mini Golf course ($8 per round), a rock wall with three routes ($8), a SuperBungee trampoline ($10), a SuperSlide alpine-type slide (adults $15, under 12 and senior $12, per ride) and a maze ($8 adult, $6 ages 5-12), where if you beat the clock, you’ll win a prize. Looking for something a little tamer? Try your hand at panning for gold ($6). If you think you can do it all, pay $50 for a half day (9 a.m.-noon) or $60 (value season) or $65 (regular season) for a full day. Kyle Wagner

STAY: Walk right out the back door to The Peak 8 Fun Park from One Ski Hill Place (1521 Ski Hill Road, 877-354-6747, ), an ownership property that rents its spacious guest rooms, from studio-size to four bedrooms. Units sport fireplaces, flat-screen TVs with DVD players, fully stocked kitchens, walk-in showers, washer/dryer and sofa sleeper. Some have a balcony or patio, and the place also offers an indoor pool, outdoor hot tub, fitness center, bowling alley and in-house movie theater you can reserve. Rates start at $219 in summer.

DINE: Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant (600 S. Park Ave., 970-453-2071, ) is like a fun park for your palate, with a full range of Mexican favorites — quesadillas, fajitas, burritos — done well, but also an appealing roster of specialties worth checking out, including grilled salmon topped with serrano-sparked avocado sauce and chicken stuffed with chorizo and set atop a habanero cream sauce. Even the (unlimited) chips and salsa are special, freshly fried and served with three kinds of dipping sauce. Margaritas are good, service is friendly.

Breckenridge is 82 miles west of Denver via Interstate 70 and Colorado 9.
