A small tanker truck rolled over and spilled about 200 gallons of molten asphalt onto Interstate 25 just before noon today, closing all southbound lanes at 120th Avenue.
The spill closed the route until almost 4 p.m. as state highway department crews smothered the hot tar with soil before a private hazardous-material crew came in to clean up, officials said.
The driver suffered what are thought to be minor injuries and was taken to Denver Health Medical Center, said North Metro Fire and Rescue Chief David Ramos.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. No other vehicles were involved.
