BOULDER, Colo.—Xcel Energy crews are replacing two power poles in central Boulder that were toppled when a garbage truck’s boom snagged a power line.
Xcel Energy spokesman Mark Stutz says power was briefly knocked out when the accident occurred at about 12:15 p.m. Wednesday. Roughly 2,400 customers were affected.
Stutz says electricity was rerouted and the power was quickly restored to most of the area. He says it could take several hours to restore electricity to about 25 to 30 customers.
The truck was delivering a Dumpster to an office building when its partially raised boom got tangled in the power lines, snapping the two poles. One of the poles was partially resting on the roof of an office building when firefighters and police arrived.
The truck driver wasn’t injured.
