The Xcel Energy Foundation recently awarded $134,500 to educational and environmental groups in the metro area, including $52,500 in Aurora; $37,000 in Boulder County; $17,500 in Lakewood; and $27,500 in Golden. In addition, the foundation issued a $10,000 grant to The Greenway Foundation in Greenwood Village and $7,500 to the Rocky Mountain Butterfly Consortium in Westminster.
State Farm Youth Advisory Board, a national sponsor of Habitat for Humanity International’s youth programs department, is donating $84,650 to help Denver’s local youth meet their fundraising goals for their 2010 homes.
Toll Brothers has donated more than 1,500 home appliances nationally to HomeAid. In Colorado, the majority of the appliances will be used in a townhome project that HomeAid is building for homeless families in Arvada.
Western Disposal will donate $300,000 over the next three years to The Dairy Center for the Arts to fund a new entry for The Dairy’s historic building at 26th and Walnut streets in Boulder.
