Without Elvis Dumervil in their pass rush, the Broncos have some room for others to earn unexpected playing time at linebacker. Players such as Akin Ayodele and Wesley Woodyard could have more prominent roles, and Mario Haggan could find himself back at outside linebacker to make it all work. Without Dumervil, the Broncos may have to diversify a little more on defense to rush out of more nickel and dime packages. They could even flash a few more 4-3 looks. That would put Haggan, who had been moved inside in the Broncos’ base defense to start training camp, in a different spot. It would put more pressure on Robert Ayers to get to the quarterback and give Woodyard, Ayodele and others more opportunities for playing time.
