CHESTER, Pa. — Danny Mwanga scored in the 73rd minute to give the Philadelphia Union a 1-1 tie with the Colorado Rapids on Saturday.
The rookie’s seventh goal of the season came on an assist from Sebastien Le Toux, who was forced to dribble deep to the goal line but was able to pass back to an onrushing Mwanga, who settled the pass, avoided a tackle and pushed it past a diving Matt Pickens. Philadelphia is winless with three ties in its past five games.
Jeff Larentowicz scored from 30 yards in the 59th minute after Union goalkeeper Chris Seitz punched a corner kick away, and the rebound found Larentowicz, who squirted the ball through traffic and Seitz could not locate the ball.
Le Toux had another chance on a breakaway late in the game but went down after two Rapids defensemen caught up to him. Television replays showed Le Toux was grabbed by his shirt.
