Showers and thundershowers over the Front Range into this evening will bring periods of light to moderate rainfall, the 9News meteorologists report.

A few isolated storms may create severe weather over small areas as a well-organized low pressure area from the Four Corners area is spreading rain and thunder across the state.

For the Denver-Boulder-Fort Collins areas, periods of showers and thundershowers are anticipated through the afternoon and evening. Some areas may even have rain after midnight.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the Front Range and Eastern Plains until 10 p.m. The biggest threat of severe storms will be well east of Interstate 25.

The National Weather Service anticipates a 50 percent chance of rain tonight for the Denver metro area, with a low temperature of 61 degrees.

Hotter, drier weather is expected for the middle of the week.
