No mechanical problems were found in the Tiny Town engine that jumped the tracks Wednesday, sending 15 people to the hospital, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment said Monday.
The train operator, a man in his mid-40s, told investigators he went into a curve too fast, grabbed the wrong lever and caused the train to accelerate rather than brake.
Cher Haavind, spokeswoman for the state agency, said a third-party inspector will be at Tiny Town today.
If all goes as planned, train operations will resume by the weekend, she said. Howard Pankratz, The Denver Post
