The Arapahoe County Courthouse at 15400 E. 14th Place in Aurora will permanently close Friday with all future court matters being handled at the Arapahoe County Justice Center in Centennial.

William B. Sylvester, the chief judge of the 18th Judicial District, said that the consolidation of the courts at the Centennial-based Justice Center will make the Arapahoe County court system more efficient.

“The consolidation of court services to the Arapahoe County Justice Center in Centennial will eliminate the confusion caused over the years as to which courthouse people are to appear in,” said Sylvester. “This move will enable the court to better serve the public by providing judicial services in one central location.”

Anyone with a court matter set on, or after, Monday should report to the Arapahoe County Justice Center, 7325 S. Potomac St., Centennial regardless of the location on a summons or other court paperwork.

Officials said the closing of the Aurora location was made possible by the recent renovation of the Arapahoe County Justice Center.

New courtrooms were added to the justice center after the Arapahoe County DA’s office moved from the center last fall.

The Department of Probation Services will continue at the Aurora location. And Arapahoe County Court civil matters, as well as small claims, will continue to be heard at the court’s Littleton location at 1790 W. Littleton Boulevard.
