BOULDER, Colo.—Boulder police are investigating what appears to be the latest in a series of homemade explosive devices being set off in the area.

Police say four mailboxes in north Boulder were damaged Wednesday by what appear to be pipe-type explosive devices.

The incident follows reports of homemade explosives found in neighborhoods in the Niwot and Gunbarrel areas. Boulder County sheriff’s deputies found the remains of four explosive devices last week around a swimming pool. Plastic bottles were filled with a chemical and aluminum foil that generated explosive hydrogen gas.

In July, Lafayette police found at least two pipe bombs in a city park. One had been detonated.
