Thursday’s morning workout was the last one open to the public, so the Broncos now will conduct their business in relative peace and quiet. Fueled mostly by rookie quarterback Tim Tebow’s arrival, 22,553 people in all watched practice at Dove Valley.
Couple that with the 20,782 people at the team’s Aug. 7 practice at Invesco Field at Mile High and 43,335 fans in all watched the Broncos over the past three weeks.
The Dove Valley total is the highest average per day there since 2007. Coach Josh McDaniels said he enjoys the public workouts and thinks his players may need some time to get used to the empty hillside at the team’s Dove Valley complex.
“I think it’s great, I think it’s awesome,” McDaniels said. “It’s always a letdown when you come out here the day after you stop training camp and there’s no people here. You make a good play and it’s quiet and sometimes the players, it takes them a day or two to get back in that flow of we’ve got to get ourselves ready for practice, there’s no energy from other people that we’re going to be able to use.”
