Getting your player ready...
LOS ANGELES—The Colorado Rockies beat the Dodgers 3-2 but the Rockies’ clubhouse in Los Angeles was anything but celebratory.
Wednesday’s win came during Brad Hawpe’s final game with the club he spent his first seven big league seasons with.
Hawpe’s contract is set to run out in six weeks. He says things weren’t going to work out for him with the Rockies so he talked with the team about getting his release.
He cleared waivers on Wednesday and rookie reliever Matt Reynolds is expected to be activated Thursday, making the move official.
Rockies manager Jim Tracy says Hawpe’s been an integral member of the club, setting the tone for how a winning major league player conducts himself.
