COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Focus on the Family founder James Dobson says he plans to form a new political action group, similar to the Colorado Springs-based ministry’s CitizenLink.
Dobson co-hosted his last “Focus on the Family” radio show in February before launching the new Family Talk ministry and a new radio show.
Dobson said on the new show Thursday that he plans to form a 501(c)4 nonprofit group that deals with public policy issues. Unlike a 501(c)3, a tax-exempt 501(c)4 can spend time lobbying. People who donate cannot claim a tax deduction.
Dobson also sought donations for his new ministry, which he says is financially struggling but staying afloat thanks to a $1 million startup donation from Focus on the Family.
