A 52-year-old Wheat Ridge woman said she was beaten by a stranger when she went outside to retrieve something from her car early today.

The assault happened about 2 a.m. in the 4900 block of Garrison Street, Wheat Ridge police said. She escaped the assailant, who ran away.

“She received injuries to her head and face. Fortunately, the injuries are not life threatening,” police said in a statement.

The attacker was described as white, in his mid 30s, more than 6 feet tall, with a slender to average build.

The man had short blond or light brown hair and no facial hair, police said. He was wearing a white T-shirt and jeans and “smelled of cigarette smoke and filth,” police stated.

Anyone with information can call Wheat Ridge police at 303-237-2220.
