DENVER—A man accused of killing his girlfriend and then staging a car crash to cover the slaying is facing a charge of trying to hire someone to kill his estranged wife, a witness in the murder case.
The Denver district attorney’s office says 24-year-old Robert Walters was charged last week with solicitation to commit first-degree murder. The Air Force veteran was charged in July with first-degree murder in the death of Brittney Brashers of Colorado Springs, an Air Force member he met while serving in Iraq.
Authorities say Walters was in Brashers’ car when it appeared to go out of control and crashed Nov. 17 as they drove from Denver to Colorado Springs.
Police say Walters confessed to his estranged wife that he killed Brashers.
