There was no announcement Thursday from either Brigham Young University or the Mountain West Conference regarding BYU’s future affiliation with the league. Sources close to the situation told The Denver Post on Wednesday reported the BYU-MWC impasse would be resolved shortly, with all indications that BYU would remain with the MWC.

The MWC office issued a “no comment” Thursday regarding talks between the conference and BYU, as did ESPN, which is negotiating with BYU as a possible football independent.

BYU announced last week it was exploring options to increase its exposure, most notably becoming independent in football, to televise all of its games over its network, BYU-TV.

Any school leaving the MWC must notify the conference office by Sept. 1 to exit the league without penalty.
