The first Honor the Traditions event will be held Saturday at the Ute Indian Museum in Montrose. This event aims to create a better understanding of cultural heritage and awareness, and promote cultural diversity. Activities include an art festival, Jemez Pueblo Indian dancers, Indian market, a wine reception, free admission to the Ute Indian Museum, a silent auction, an evening buffalo feast and an outdoor American Indian movie at dusk.

The 23rd Annual Fall Color Festival will be Saturday and Sept. 5. at the Cortez Cultural Center. View high-quality, handcrafted arts and crafts, and enjoy games, food and kids events.

The third annual Taos Artist Organization Studio Tour will take place over two weekends, Saturday-Sept. 6 and Sept. 11-12. Visitors can meet the artists and enjoy the different studio settings Taos has to offer. During the week, Sept. 6-12, experts will offer experiential workshops. or call 575-751-0071
A bad bug but a good time.
The third annual BeetleFest will take place Sept. 11 in Frisco. This event brings awareness to the pine beetle epidemic. Festivities include the 4K Beetle Stomp, where runners will dress up in their favorite beetle-themed attire and compete for best costume awards; a logging competition; the Volkswagen Bug Bash; a bug petting zoo; and more. Food and beverage vendors will also be present. Free admission.

The 2 Mile High Club’s annual aspen tour event will take place at the Cripple Creek Heritage Center, Sept. 18-19 and Sept. 25-26. Visitors can view the fall colors in the context of the gold camp. Tours are free and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Foliage and film.
The changing colors of aspen trees will provide a backdrop to the Aspen Filmfest, Sept. 29-Oct. 3, when the silver screen lights up and features independent films from the past year along with special presentations and film guests.
