Grandview grad key to UNLV win.
The UNLV Rebels (1-2) won their first match of the volleyball season in come-from-behind, five-set fashion over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (0-3) on Saturday at the Long Beach State Baden Classic. UNLV claimed the match 25-21, 23-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-9.
Grandview High School graduate Sara Nehf put UNLV up 11-9 in the deciding game with her career- best 21st kill, and Nile Te’o served up back-to-back aces to add more breathing room. A quick timeout by Rutgers did nothing to cool the hot hands, as Sekola Falemaka and Madeline Westman connected on consecutive kills to keep the Rebels in control.
