LONGMONT, Colo.—Longmont police say they arrested a 19-year-old man believed to have been hiding in Mexico after a warrant was issued for him on a charge of attempted first-degree murder.

Police say Pedro Garcia-Gonzalez surrendered to authorities Saturday afternoon after a SWAT team surrounded the Longmont home he was in. Police say they believe Garcia-Gonzalez had been spending time in Mexico but would return to visit friends and family.

Authorities say Garcia-Gonzales is wanted on several charges, including attempted first-degree murder and child abuse. Police say he is suspected of firing a gun near his girlfriend and their baby in 2007. Police say Garcia-Gonzalez is also suspected of shooting at a man who was trying to break up a fight. The man wasn’t injured.
