The digital revolution expands its social spectrum at Vail Resorts with the introduction of EpicMix, a new Web application that allows skiers to record and share their experiences on the mountains at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Heavenly. By leveraging the radio frequency (RF) technology installed at each of Vail Resorts’ 89 lifts and RF chips embedded in season passes and lift tickets, EpicMix allows users to track vertical feet skied and numbers of days on the mountain, then share the info on Facebook and Twitter. The free mobile app even alerts users when their Facebook friends are on the mountain and can be used to send private messages to meet up. Additional features include trail and grooming info, snow and weather report, traffic updates and virtual “pins” for milestones.
Since the app is embedded in passes and lift tickets, there is nothing to buy, and it’s almost effortless to enable. The app will launch Nov. 5, opening day at Keystone Mountain.
