Jana Morris of Colorado Springs is the recipient of this week’s $25 gas card for her tip for a pampering spa vacation.
“It takes three days to really relax on a vacation, so every year my two girlfriends and I pick a different place, usually near a beach, and go away for at least five days, usually over a long weekend,” Morris said via voice mail. “The husbands watch the kids, and we shop and sightsee and get settled in the first couple of days.”
Morris says they pick a hotel or resort known for its luxury spa. “After we’ve burned off some energy and really feel like we’re finally on vacation,” she says, “then we start the real relaxing. We book everything at the spa separately over at least three days. One day, the facial, one day a scrub and foot massage, one day the hot stone massage. That way, we get to use the facilities, like the steam rooms, whirlpools, great showers and amenities, every single day. You might save more money doing a package in one day, but you sure don’t get the beautiful place. And at least one day, we eat a yummy lunch there too.”
