A 24-year-old man faces multiple charges after an early-morning incident Saturday that began in a battle over custody of a child and ended in gunfire in Evans.
Leonel Crispin Chaparro-Duran, 24, faces charges of attempted murder, felony menacing, assault, disorderly conduct, prohibited use of a weapon and criminal mischief, according to Evans police Cmdr. Pat Haugse.
The trouble started about 2:30 a.m. when Chaparro-Duran went to the residence of his former girlfriend to take custody of their son.
While there, Chaparro-Duran argued with a man who was at the home, Haugse said. At one point, Haugse said, Chaparro-Duran allegedly pulled a handgun and threatened to kill the other man, sparking a fight. Both men were injured.
Evans is just south of Greeley.
