Every time I have attended a show at , it has been a different experience. The same can be said for Friday nightap (STS9) show. My usual 45-minute drive from Boulder to the venue turned into a two-hour exercise in patience. Instead of hampering my spirits, I felt increasingly more eager.
Unfortunately, due to the traffic I missed the first two openers (Alex B and John Hughes), but I made it in time to see , my main draw to the event in the first place. Many people in attendance remarked on how Thievery Corporation could have easily headlined the night. Given the power of their performance, which included their hit “Lebanese Blond,” some may have even viewed the band as a co-headliner.
STS9 took the stage in a cloud of fog. The lights and pounding beats the made the entire crowd erupt in dance. My earlier eagerness was quenched to an extent, but I left the venue ready for more.
