Carlos Gonzalez stifled a potential big inning against the Padres in the first when he was caught in a rundown between first and second as Dexter Fowler reached third. Gonzalez slowed down after rounding the bag, but accelerated and landed in no-man’s land when the throw from right field was cut off.
Rockies and a hard place.
The Padres went into Monday at 32-31 vs. NL West clubs. Now for the interesting part: They were 10-5 vs. the Giants, 10-8 vs. the Diamondbacks, 8-7 vs. the Dodgers and 4-11 vs. the Rockies.
