The Boulder Marathon, which was scheduled for Sunday at Boulder Reservoir, has been postponed. A new date of Oct. 3 or after is being considered. Firefighters working on the Fourmile Canyon wildfire have been camp- ing at the reservoir’s sites.

Race director Jeff Mason made the announcement Monday about the three events, which includes a half marathon and a 10K.

“E-mails of support have come in from all corners of the country and I want to thank all of you for keeping a positive outlook on this, and especially for keeping this situation in its proper perspective,” Mason wrote on the event’s website ().

“Once we have a reschedule date, we’ll encourage our participants to bring items to donate to those who have been affected by the fire.”

Mason said this weekend is not an option for the race. The course, which is not in the burn area, goes around Table Mountain on the east side of U.S. 36.

The Boulder Bike Classic, which was supposed to be Sunday, had to be canceled and will not be rescheduled this year. Also postponed this past weekend was the Boulder Sunset Triathlon and Duathlon. There is not a rescheduled date yet.
