More than 8,000 people participated this morning in the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk in Denver City Park, making it the biggest turnout in the 21-year history of the event, organizers said.
“Money is still coming in and we are confident that we will make our goal of $780,000,” said Linda Mitchell, CEO for the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado.
Of the 11 Memory Walks held around the state, Denver’s is always the largest, Mitchell said.
Fundraising events included a 5K run, kids’ fun run and a 5K Walk.
Next week’s Memory Walk – the final one this year – will be held in Walsenburg.
