Columbine’s Woody Kincaid just took up the sport of cross country last year and has already compiled an impressive dossier.

The Rebels senior finished 17th at the state meet in his initial try and conquered the big-school field at the site of the year’s state meet in Aurora at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds. On Friday, Kincaid posted the best time of the day — one second faster than Chaparral’s Keagan Vargo, running in the Division 1 heat — at Heritage’s Liberty Bell Invitational Division 2 race.

Moffat County’s Chris Zirkle and Alfredo Lebron went 1-2 in the D-3 race, and Alamosa’s Chad Palmer won Division 4. Boys team titles went to Albuquerque Academy (Div. 1), Heritage (2), Broomfield (3) and Alamosa (4).
