Made-to-measure suits might be more of a luxury than a necessity for executives these days, but that isn’t stopping one Italian company and its American retail partners from promoting their styles.

Italian clothing company Ermenegildo Zegna is celebrating 100 years in business by doing special events in stores throughout the country, including Andrisen Morton in Denver. The menswear retailer on Friday and Saturday hosts a made-to- measure event featuring Paolo Vaccari, a tailor from Zegna’s Milan headquarters. Vaccari and representative Gray Madden will be fitting clients and taking orders for suits, which are ready in three to four weeks, according to store president David Morton.

As an incentive to those purchasing suits or sportcoat-pants combinations, the store is giving away a shirt and tie. Morton says a Zegna suit sells for $2,495 and up, while sportcoats start at about $1,895. Customers for the made-to-order goods are typically one of two kinds of men: those who can’t fit into clothing off the rack, and “fabric fashionistas who want to pick out a unique fabric and get an exclusive,” Morton says.

As for styling, two-button side-vented coats are dominant, with jackets being a little slimmer and shorter than in past seasons, Morton says. Andrisen Morton Zegna Made-to-Measure Event, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 270 Saint Paul St., 303-377-8488.
