FORT CARSON — Police shot a soldier at Fort Carson on Thursday after he appeared to threaten officers responding to a 911 call, officials said.
The man’s wound was not believed to be life-threatening, Fort Carson spokeswoman Brandy Gill said. He was taken to a hospital in nearby Colorado Springs.
The officer who fired is a civilian police officer employed by the Army, Gill said.
A 911 caller reported a man behaving erratically in a residential area on the post just before noon Thursday, Gill said.
Five officers responded, some of them military police and some civilian police working for the Army.
The suspect moved toward them in “a threatening manner,” and the civilian officer fired at him, Gill said. The Associated Press
