COLORADO SPRINGS — A couple of teenagers may have learned just how difficult it can be to operate a stick-shift transmission.

Police say they quickly found a stolen purple Ford Explorer early Saturday morning when they noticed a similar-looking sport utility vehicle lurching back and forth near Academy Boulevard and Platte Avenue.

When police tried pulling over the SUV, two teens inside the vehicle tried running away. They were quickly caught, police said.

Police later learned the teens did not know how to operate a stickshift. The teens’ names have not been released.
