DENVER—The Colorado Avalanche have signed right wing Luke Walker to an entry-level contract.

The Avalanche didn’t disclose the terms of the deal announced Tuesday.

Colorado selected 20-year-old Walker in the fifth round of the 2010 NHL Entry draft. He played in two games this preseason, scoring one goal. He was reassigned Sunday to the club’s AHL affiliate, Lake Erie.

Walker spent the past three seasons with the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks. He tallied 27 goals and 30 assists in 61 games last season.

The New Haven, Conn., native helped the United States win the gold medal at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship in Saskatchewan.
