A woman lost control of her car at an Aurora dog park starting a grass fire and sending her husband and herself to the hospital just after 7 p.m. Monday.
Chuck Deshazer, Aurora’s traffic commander with the police department, said the woman had just dropped off her husband and two dogs at the park near Quincy Avenue and Pitkin Street.
The woman was attempting to park her car but somehow lost control of the vehicle and crashed through “some fences” and into a concrete barrier, Deshazer said.
The crash ignited a fire and both she and her husband sustained burn injuries.
The grass fire was put out within minutes.
The woman was airlifted to the hospital. Her husband was taken by ambulance. Their condition is unknown.
The dogs were not injured.
An investigation is ongoing to determine what led to the woman losing control of the car.
