The Colorado State men’s golf team shot a final-round 280 in the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational on Tuesday at Colorado National Golf Club, finishing just one stroke behind winner New Mexico.

The Rams finished the tournament with a 4-under-par 860, led by Ryan Peterson, who shot a three-round 213.

Host Colorado, the first-round leader by one stroke, faltered in the final two rounds to finish seventh. The Buffs were led by Luke Symons, who tied for seventh with a 216 in his first tournament competition in 13 months since undergoing hip surgery in 2009.

The University of Denver finished eighth with an 885, Wyoming was 11th at 901, Northern Colorado was 12th at 910 and Air Force finished 13th at 911.
